Thoughts on Knights in Shining Armour


Knights in Shining Armour…..

There’s a fantasy inside the head of most every little girl….there is a Prince, a Knight….who is handsome and charming and will fall madly in love with her. He will sweep her up into his arms…. together they will ride off into the sunset.

When a girl is 6 years old, her knight might be 7 years old…..and brave enough to hold her hand as they cross the street.

When a girl is 10 years old, her knight might be 10 years old…..and brave enough to carry her books home from school.

When a girl is 14 years old, her knight might be 14 years old …..and brave enough to ask her to dance in front of everyone at the Friday night dance.

When a girl is 17 years old, her knight might be 17 years old …..and brave enough to steal that kiss at the end of the evening.

And so it goes on through out the years….and then the one day the girl is 50 years old, and the knight might be 50 years old…and brave enough: to hold her hand as they cross the room, to carry her groceries in from the car, to dance with her when there is no one there, and to steal a kiss…..as if she were 17 again.
